Indefinite Break from Blogging

I decided to just go ahead and be straight-forward in the title. Since that’s all that really needs to be said and the rest of this overly long post is going to be explanations and very vague plans.

I’m “taking a break” from blogging, but without any real plan of when I’ll come back. I’d even add an “if” just so I don’t have to put the pressure on myself to come back if I don’t want to. And if I do come back I really doubt I’ll be blogging the same way that I have been. I’m just not really up to it.

It’s not so much that blogging itself has lost my interest, but more that it’s anime that I’m not that into. Somewhat. I suppose. I’ll try to explain properly.

I Wish Merry Christmas For You!

christmas2009

I guess the Simplicity Christmas tradition is taking whatever Engrish-y (or just plain fun) way to say “Merry Christmas” that I heard by being an anime fan and make it the post title. Last year it was “Happy Merry Christmas!” (which is still the standby if I don’t find something because I love that for some reason) thanks to Shugo Chara!. This year it’s “I Wish Merry Christmas For You!” from Buono!’s B-side on “Bravo Bravo”, Winter Story. So through a chain of events this one was also brought to you by Shugo Chara!.

Anyway, yes! The scheduled Christmas greeting of 2009! Being the second time I’ve been a part of the year-end events of the blogosphere, including just doing a Christmas post, I’m really starting to realize that I’ve been around for a little while. Feels strange to actually be conscious of it. So just a few little Christmas things of note. Unlike last year (and years before when I wasn’t around blogging) I was actually feeling pretty good so I’m feeling extra good about Christmas! :)

Plans for NYAF

nyafplansDue to Yui Makino love~ this post contains small amounts of Sakura love~ as well

It seems that when I announced my one month hiatus I forgot that the end of the month would directly fall with my last week of preparations for New York Anime Festival. I sort of knew it, but I suppose I was thinking that with a month, I’d surely be ready. That obviously ignored that the whole point of the hiatus was to be a break. Not a month preparing for my return. *idiot* So the full return of Simplicity will really just have to wait for the new season

However! Since I’ve still been posting when I’ve had the need (or want to) anyway, there’s no reason not to now. Especially when my blog’s the best place to get in contact with anyone else attending New York Anime Festival~ It’s official planning time!

Fuyu’s 19th Birthday & Adventures in NYC

adventures

This post is late. It’s now been a week since I’ve been home. Heh.

Anyway, as I stated in Weekly Extra…a couple of times. My family was heading out to New York City for a “reconnaissance” trip for NYAF. Of course, me being me and my mother being my mother, it was more detours of being sparkly-eyed at anime merchandise and various tourist-y stops.

But overall, it was a productive few days. I have a pile of merchandise. Both for my birthday and from New York City (and one things that’s both!). So plenty to brag about while I recount my (boring) wanderings in NYC.

Graduating & Choosing Favorite Characters

graduation00

I’m graduating from high school today. In fact as this is publishing I should already be in my (ridiculous) cap and gown.

I’m currenlty 18 so it seems like everything went as planned, which it did…as far as plans go for the last five months. Even so, people may have noticed that I was behaving as if I expected some impossible obstacle to pop up until the very end. That’s because it was how I’d come to expect it to go after a couple of attempts to complete high school ending up in failure.

I missed one and a half years of high school due to an illness. I’ve talked about it before, so it’s not exactly like it’s a secret, though I refrain from mentioning it because I don’t want any of the reactions that come with that news, sympathetic or immature. What it was (or is) that kept me out of school isn’t important because I’m quite healthy and capable of functioning in every day life now. The point is that I am graduating exactly one year late because I simply couldn’t attend school. And as I’ve also discussed before, that has lead me to choosing one of my favorite characters of all time.

Blogging Slowdown Time

careerhiatus

Yes, it’s time for another half-hiatus after quite some time (I’m rather proud how I’ve been managing fairly well). I was lucky that my couselor took so long to gather together the papers for the extra credit project for the semester. But he handed it out last week and now I’ve lost 32 hours every week.

Which isn’t that much, but when a big chunk of time goes missing from your routine, you have to make some adjustments. Luckily, I was doing some thinking ahead so these adjustments aren’t going to be that big of a deal. Still a bit of warning is good.
