Fall 2009! The most promising season that I’ve seen while I’ve been blogging! Apparently the seasons are supposed to become less interesting as time goes by because the more you see, the less there is to see. Of course, that rule doesn’t apply when there’s 4+ series you’d be psyched up for in any season. Having all four at once is just a bonus (and mildly troublesome actually).
Usually, there would even be a bittersweet feeling about Fall because it means back to school, but this isn’t the case for me. Ahahaha~. I’m not going back…yet. I’m at least postponing that horrible feeling until Winter.
Now aside from the anime I’m very excited for, there’s only a couple of others that grab me in any particular way (which could totally end up disappointing me just the same). Which is just as well for me since I usually end up actually finishing maybe 5 out of 11 series that I pick up anyway.
I’m also trying to make the preview more organized as always so it will be divided into a few sections. Continuing, sequels, new series, OAVs & etc, and Other Stuff. The new “Other Stuff” will be a combination of all the stuff that I don’t think I’ll be watching. It’ll basically be the title of the series, my briefest thoughts, and a link to the official webpage. If you’re looking for more information than that, then Google is your friend. The new section is here to simply make a complete list because people seem to ignore me saying, “This isn’t all the season has to offer” and assume that it is.
But aside from dividing the post into sections, it’s the same as always.

Continuing Series
Continuing from the last season.
We knew about Fullmetal Alchemist all along. After all, there’s lots of manga material to cover and even the original series was 52 episodes long (plus any extra stuff I never bothered to watch).
But we optimists so hoped that Shugo Chara! would wrap up so nicely. *sigh~* But this is hardly the place for this. So if you dare spam my nice, varied preview with Shugo Chara! whining I will get you. (muahahaha~)

Sequels
Remakes, spin-offs, or continuations of a previously animated series.

Series: Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu Purezza♪
Prequel: Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu (Adapted: Light Novels by Yusaku Igarashi)
Studio: Diomedea (Formerly Studio Barcelona)
Airdate: 10/05
Episodes: 12
Website: http://www.nogizaka-haruka.com/
(ANN) (Wikipedia) (MAL)
Seiyuu: Mamiko Noto, Wataru Hatano, Kana Ueda, Mai Goto, Reiko Takagaki, Rie Kugimiya
Videos: show
More super adorable otaku romace? Please? Plus there are a lot of characters we haven’t seen yet in the anime, including one that’s confirmed to appear since Rie Kugimiya has been casted. (Also I saw a loli maid in the trailer~)
I keep on getting a horrible pessimistic feeling that eventually the series is just going to wear out and go to common harem hijinks. Really, it’ll never be as charming as it was in the first seven episodes. Where everything was new, including Yuto and Haruka’s relationship (and thus hand-holding was the best thing ever!!!). I only wish I knew Japanese so I could have read all of the light novels by now and known if everything was as giggle-worthy as I want it to be.
Watching? Of course.
Blogging? Very likely

Series: InuYasha Kanketsu-hen
Prequel: InuYasha (Adapted: Manga by Rumiko Takahashi)
Studio: Sunrise

Seiyuu: Satsuki Yukino, Kappei Yamaguchi, Houko Kuwashima, Kouji Tsujitani, Kumiko Watanabe (i.e. the gangs all here!)

Blah, blah, blah, ordinary high school girl. Blah, blah, blah half-demon. Blah, blah, blah Shikon no Tama. Blah, blah, blah, annoying bad guy who won’t die. Blah, blah, blah, insane fangirl wars. You know it all already. You already know if you’re going to watch it. This is the end of the series, no fillers apart from what Takashi-sensei puts in herself. So you already know if this is worth watching.
My fangirl birth was likely owed to InuYasha (and KagxInu shipping~) so there’s no real way I can avoid this. Plus I miss hearing Satsuki Yukino…specifically voicing Kagome. It’s just a shame that there’s less light-hearted back and forth ridiculous fighting between InuYasha and Kagome past where the anime ended. But aside from light-hearted stuff (the stuff from Takahashi-sensei I love most~), there are quite a few great moments in here among the…I believe two more Tessaiga power-ups. So I’ll be watching every week. Just like old times. Nostalgia~
Watching? Yes~ Reliving my preteen fangirl years~
Blogging? No, especially not after finding others relive their preteen years by acting like preteens

Um…love triangle with extra girls added in there because our main dude is useless. (But really this is less of a second season and more like, just picking up where it left off because NOTHING HAPPENED.)
Psh. Rina-sama was awesome but everyone else sucked so this thing got dropped. Coincidentally, I think after the point where I dropped it was when the slapping stopped. Hmm…so yeah, I’d totally pick it up again if the slapping restarted.
Watching? I’ll keep an eye on blogs and watch the episodes where slapping happens.

New Series
New anime for the season.

Series: Kobato.
Adaptation: Manga by CLAMP
Studio: Madhouse
Airdate: 10/06
Episodes: 24
Website: http://www.kobato.tv/
(ANN) (Wikipedia) (MAL)
Seiyuu: Kana Hanazawa, Tetsu Inada
Videos: show
Hanato Kobato has a wish to go to a certain place. In order for that wish to be granted she has to fill a jar with wounded hearts. However, before even that difficult task…she has to at least prove she has some common sense. Many heart-warming stories (some standalone and others still continuing in the manga) happen with a very likable (and sometimes already familiar) cast of characters.
If you do not know my thoughts on this then I will kindly have to ask you to leave because YOU DON’T KNOW ME AT ALL!!!!
Seriously though. Kobato <3 This is probably the most excited I’ve ever been about an anime adaptation. Every other series I loved I got into after it started airing so they really don’t matter. Maybe Skip Beat! would have been the runner-up, but unlike Kobato that had some disappointing attachments (still don’t like Kyoko’s anime character design).
Watching? Of course!
Blogging? I will! (to the best of my ability)

Series: Kimi ni Todoke
Adaptation: Manga by Karuho Shiina
Studio: Production I.G.
Airdate: 10/06
Episodes: 12
Website: http://www.ntv.co.jp/kiminitodoke/
(ANN) (Wikipedia) (MAL)
Seiyuu: Mamiko Noto, Daisuke Namikawa, Aya Hirano, Miyuki Sawashiro, Yuko Sanpei, Yuichi Nakamura
Videos: show
Kuronuma Sawako’s one wish in life is to make friends. That’s a difficult proposition when everyone who meets her cowers in terror. She admires her classmate, Kazehaya, a popular, easygoing and 100% refreshing guy who is nice to everyone…even her.
I’ve been avoiding the manga (which I’ve heard wonderful things about) so I can look at this anime with no preconceptions of how a character is supposed to sound or any of that stuff. Though I’m betting that as soon as I get through the first episode I’ll want to jump right on the manga. Absolutely everything I’ve heard about this has made it clear to me that this is a series I should like. The fact that it’s shoujo being the most obvious hint.
Also the cast is looking pretty good~ (Especially Yuichi Nakamura~ I got lonely just hearing him as Ikuto… )
Watching? Most likely yes.
Blogging? Normally I’d give a tentative yes, but I already have 2 series…but maybe with the new way I’m planning on blogging.

Series: 11eyes
Adaptation: Visual Novel by Lass
Studio: Dogakobo
Airdate: 10/06
Episodes: Unknown

Seiyuu: Daisuke Ono, Mai Goto

Satsuki Kakeru lost his sister by suicide and has been living a dull life ever since. Until one day, he is transported into a bizarre world “Red Night” with his childhood friend, Yuka. In order to survive and escape from Red Night, he fights against Dark Spirits and Black Nights. A bunch of bishoujo (and apparently like one guy) also have to fight in Red Night. Because fighting’s not fun without bishoujo!
At first, I have to say, I was fully expecting this series to fall in the “horrible” category, but then everywhere I looked everyone who played the game had only good things to say about it. Of course, along with that comes the, “I hope it’s not like CHAOS;HEAD” comments. Good game, bad anime. It sounds like it could be quite decent., I suppose it just depends on how it’s executed as an anime. I already stumbled into quite a few vague spoilers. Mostly about the main girl Yuka who has gotten that Rimi sort of fascination because of it. Also, since she’s darn cute.
If my vague comments about vague spoilers don’t interest you, all most people who would be interested have to do is watch the opening from the game. There’s blood~
The only disappointing factor is that I’m not getting the awesome seiyuu collection I’m used to in series with so many girls. Aside from Mai Goto no one even stood out to me.
Watching? All the good stuff doesn’t happen until the end, so unless it’s awful I have to stick it out.
Blogging? No

Ichigo Amano is a 14-year-old girl who wants to be a pâtissière, but she is obstructed by her own clumsiness. Until one day, she enrolls in St. Marie Academy, a culinary school for sweets, and meets a “spirit of sweets.”
The manga looks darn cute. It also looks like it’s not really much of a borderline series like other Ribon series. Like Arina Tanemura’s manga are in Ribon, but often seem to develop into a more mature series. Especially Shinshi Doumei Cross where the main characters were all high school age. Now because it’s not borderline like Arina Tanemura’s series and a few others, the chances of it being 3D animation are…not zero. To my knowledge, I don’t think Pierrot has done 3D animation, but we’ll just have to see.
But if the animation is normal and judging from the promo image on the site…ZOMG SO CUTE! I want to watch~!
Watching? 3D Animation: Hell no. Anything else halfway decent: Yes ^^

The man possesses the power of the “devil’s contract”. Cecily has been searching for a blacksmith who can repair an old sword she inherited from her father, and that mysterious young man happens to be blacksmith named Luke. Cue RPG-like adventures.
Fantasy almost always warrants a look from me. It’s as simple as that. And since Tears to Tiara will be over I’ll need a new backburner series. Especially with so many series making me all starry-eyed, I’ll actually need something I can say, “Meh. Not now.” to instead of, “ZOMG MUST WATCH!!!11″
But I’m kind of already expecting to drop it, unless they make good on some shipping opportunities. Ohohoho~
Watching? Checking it out

The student council at Hekiyo Gakuen is chosen entirely by popularity vote. Sugisaki Ken is the only male representative that may enter the “sacred sanctuary” of the council’s meeting room. As demanded by the Council President Sakurano Kurimu, Sugisaki records the minutes of the council meetings, which devolve into daily conversations about the students’ lives and interests.
I am predicting a show that’s either horrible or all right but gets fanboys all worked up that it makes it impossible for anyone to enjoy it unless they’re not in contact with fanboys. Sadly, too many blogs are run by fanboys, so I’m likely to end up dropping this either way. But since it’s not something that I’d be too into anyway, I’m not exactly heartbroken over it. I’m at least giving it a chance though.
Watching? Maybe, but the drop chances are high.
Blogging? Noooo.

lawl Summary. To me it kind of seems pointless, but there’s really no reason not to watch it…so I will. (It’s that simple.) Oh imagine if they do the cliche voice swap too…though I hope they don’t because it’d be more fun to hear the seiyuu be all ooc. Heh…actually if it’s that way I’d look forward to it…
Watching? It could be fun~

Other Anime For the Season
TV series I probably won’t be watching.
Anyamaru Tantei Kiruminzuu: Didn’t really bother looking up anything on it so I don’t care.
Asura Cryin’ 2: Hmm…I guess I’ll just chalk this up to this Fall being the miracle sequel season. Because otherwise there’s really no one dying for a second season of this I’m sure.
Battle Spirits: Shounen Gekiha Dan: Looked at the promo image on the website. I saw cards. I ran. Though really the title alone was enough to do that.
(Besides that, apparently it’s a sequel and I never heard of it until now. Baaad sign.)
DARKER THAN BLACK Ryuusei no Gemini: Why haven’t I watched the first season of this? It looks pretty awesome. Hmm…
Fairy Tail: You know I’m actually not opposed to watching this. The manga has come across my path a few times (I just never got around to reading it). I always kind of figured that it already had an anime, but I guess this proves me wrong. Anyway, I still haven’t paid much attention to it, so I can’t preview it, but I may give it a look when it does air. Especially if it ends up streaming. *is lazy and has only been keeping up with streamed shows*
Kampfer: Oh! Bishoujo! Must resist. At least because the plot sounds stupid. Boy turning into a girl, blah, blah, blah. (Hmm…I wonder which one is the boy…) Though the seiyuu do make it temptimg (Nana-sama~<3). But RosarioVampire taught us a valuable lesson. Nana-sama along can’t save an anime!
Kiddy Girl-and: Um…I just got a bad feeling is all. (Plus apparently it’s some other sequel or spin-off or something…so many this season).
Miracle☆Train ~Ouedo-sen e Youkoso~: lawl. Bishounen trains. I may check this out just to see if any of the guys gets my fangirling going, but I doubt it. Only one bishounen-centered anime has ever gotten me.
Natsu no Arashi! Akinaichuu: Didn’t watch the first season. Don’t care.
Nyankoi!: D’aww…kitties~ Of course, I am tempted somewhat (sometimes you miss an unrealistic fanservice romantic comedy), but this season is too great otherwise that this gets passed. Unless enough people blog it and therefore it becomes fun. ^_^
Queen’s Blade Gyokuza wo Tsugumono:
Sasameki Koto: Boring. We just had a yuri series this season with Aoi Hana. I don’t need another one that just revolves around school again so soon. Especially when it looks so basic. Bleh.
Shin Koihime†Musou: The first series I’ve heard was pretty much crap, so I have no interest.
Sora no Otoshimono: Checked out two pages of the manga for this. Saw too much boobage on a splash page. Again on the website page. Pass.
Stitch! ~Itazura Alien no Daibouken~: …lol. Sorry, but I think Stitch probably should have stopped with the adorable movie. Moving to another country and getting a second season there…is too much. Even for Disney, those whores (but maybe I should just be glad of anything that’s not computer animated
)
Tatakau Shisho: No idea what this even is. It looks like it wouldn’t be awful, but it still fails to get anything from me.
Tegami Bachi: Yeah, this really just didn’t get my interest when I looked it up. Though the promo picture is pretty.
To Aru Kagaku no Railgun: Index spin-off. Since I didn’t finish Index, which actually really had me at first, I really don’t even care about this. It just has a spinoff because apparently the girl’s tsundere anyway…
Winter Sonata: Is this even going to be airing this season? Hasn’t it supposed to have aired in like…10 other seasons or something crazy?
Wow. So many sequels this season. So many of them suck too. All that’s missing is Akikan!
It should also be noted that not every single anime is included in this list. Eventually I just got bored of even seeing things that I know no one will watch or that seemed rather sketchy about even airing this season and stuff. So something that will air might not be on here and something that won’t air could be too. Who knows~

All information was gathered in other places and all I did was simply collect them into one post. Resources include The Fansub Wiki, Wikipedia, Anime News Network, and the anime sites themselves.
As a warning, if my resource was wrong, then I’m wrong. But I try my best to collect information I believe is correct.

Thoughts
Well…I have five shows I’m guaranteed to be watching in the upcoming season. Including one that I have to say twice everytime I mention it. (Kobato~)
Plus three more that are quite close to guaranteed, just waiting to see the first episodes. One bonus wait & see show. An OVA I’ll be watching this season. And even 3 “maybe”s in the “probably not” stuff. A pretty good season with 12 or so possibilities for regular watching.
Though I remember when it was easy to pick 12 out of a season. I’m getting old and picky. (Nuu! I swear to you that I’m just 19!!!) I guess the beauty in the season is my five guaranteed plus 3 almost guaranteed. Normally I have to force some of my enthusiasm.
Anyway, I’ll be trying to do as many First Impressions as I can. But anything that isn’t even listed in the main parts of the preview will probably be left out. As of right now my guesses go something like this:
Guaranteed (Relatively) Regular Blogging
- Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu Purezza♪
- Kobato. (Kobato~<3)
First Impressions
- InuYasha Kanketsu-hen
- Kimi ni Todoke
- 11eyes
- Yumeiro Patissiere
- The Sacred Blacksmith
- Seitokai no Ichizon
And everything is subject to sporadic, unplanned fangirly blogging!
As it should be.
Since I’m trying to fix my blog up to be more fun during the hiatus, I’ll try to do things a little differently this Fall. Still working on my ideas though.

Hehe, I’ve been waiting for this :3
If it weren’t for me reading Simplicity I never would have known so many great animes (though it was Shugo Chara that got me to reading the blog posts).
I’m waiting for Kobato as well, though it looks sorta like the usual CLAMP-genki-dojikko-girl, I can’t say I don’t enjoy the manga.
Other than that I’ll start watching Fairy tail though it’s likely to be dropped, and Kimi ni Todoke. I feel like watching Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu too but I didn’t even finish catching up on the first season yet… so yeah.
September 2nd, 2009
Wow, I guess I will be checking out 11eyes after all, that looks pretty awesome (plus I see a delicious looking white haired loli :3).
The Sacred Blacksmith looks like all kinds of really bad/cliche humor, but I’m definitely giving it a few episodes now that I see that the main character is voiced by Okamoto Nobuhiko. I’m betting it’ll be full of really lame jokes and fanservice though, but we’ll see.
I’ll keep you posted. Hopefully Rina gets a good slap in on Touya at some point :p
Re: Darker Than Black: Watch it! I just marathoned it the other day and it was really awesome. One of the main female protagonists is voiced by Mizuki Nana :D I was shocked when I heard her at first, because I had no idea she was in it.

Kobato, Kimi ni Todoke, and InuYasha are ones I am definitely watching! I will probably check out Yumeiro Patissiere too as long as it’s not in 3D. It looks really cute. Of course I will be watching the third season of SC! as well. Kobato is the one I am most excited for though! I saw a post of yours that said something about it so I decided to read it. Now I am totally in love with it. You have gotten me into a lot of series actually. Anyway… Oh poo! I was hoping that something was going to air on my birthday. *pouts*

I’m only following three on your list (not counting Shana, which I’ll watch out of curiosity). Hmm, so I guess the “less interesting by the season” factor is true a bit. :/
But I’ll be looking forward to your Haruka and Kobato posts as well as your impressions on 11eyes. <3 Haha, yea, I finally convinced myself that I'll watch Haruka so hopefully, it'll hold out for me to stay with it.

For Kimi ni Todoke, the casting is perfect. If you're avoiding the manga because of that, then read the manga. You'll probably be more excited for that than Kobato.
Yume Pati…
It’s St. Marie Academy though. You liked the promo image? Ichigo scared the crap out of me. orz

asdfsd; Kobato~~ It’s so close now. I’m excited.Obviously that’s a must-watch.
Besides that, Kimi ni Todoke looks good so I’ll definatly check that out.
I want to try watching Inuyasha and The Sacred Blacksmith, but they’ll both probably be dropped. I loved Inuyasha when I first got into anime and manga, but its just not my kind of anime now. And as for The Sacred Blacksmith.. well, I’ve just never been into RPG-like anime. But something about the picture makes me want to try it.
And thanks for doing this. <3

Bleeh: Oh I’m so glad to hear that. I always hoped people who came for SC! posts might…stay for other stuff.
Nazarielle: It all depends on if 11eyes is destroyed by plot-hacking and bad animation…
Nuu! No lame fanservice in my only hope for a fantasy show this season! At least fanservice doesn’t seem the main idea in the promo image.
Touya needs a good real slap from Rina. So I will eagerly await it.
Oh god Nana-sama in DtB!? Why did I not know that with all of the blog spamming on it a while ago? Must watch!
Amutofan123: Yes! No 3d! (Let’s start an anti-3D league guys!)
Ooo~ When’s your birthday? Somes stuff is still going to get announced so maybe you’ll get lucky.
Xiao: Hey now~ It’s quality over quantity! And Kobato alone has enough quality to surpass the last few seasons I think! (Yes, the success of this season to me solely hinges on Kobato~)
Good. It would have been so disappointing to not have a part of the original Haruka fangirling team back again.
You were late to the Haruka love last season anyway if I remember.
Bill: But a clueless Shana? I say YES to that! Hehe~
Kokidokom: You’re not the only one. But like I sad to Xiao, my opinion on this season totally comes from being a Kobato~ fangirl. Kobato alone makes it ten times more win than any season before.
Ah thank you for that edit. I believe that mistake can be blamed on ANN. It’s usually them.
But it’s all adorable flowery crap and their eyes are hueg! I have to love it. Even if it does border on scary.
usagijien: Aha! So it is an otome game thing! I was getting weird images of bishies talking on trains and stuff.
Just need to wait for my fellow fangirls to drag me in before I surrender to it though!
13Cici: Yesh! Kobato~ (I love any excuse to say it~)
If InuYasha is really just 26 episodes though I feel like it’s impossible to drop if you watched it all before though. It’s the end! THE END!!! (Even if I already read the manga it’s still exciting to have closure for my youth~)
I know! Something about the image for Sacred Blacksmith got me too. Maybe because I hoped that the sometimes boring fantasy storyline could be offset by some romance? (One guy, 3 girls demands some level of romance)

Kimi Ni Todoke is actually what I’m most excited for. I will blog it! (I have fridays free this year at least). I kind of hope CR picks up for subs. The seriyus actually really fits the characters as well.
White Album. Pfft~ I’ll probably watch the last episode to see if Rina walks away from the trainwreck.
11 EYES sounds better the more I hear/see of it. (Eyepatch ftw).
The MF and Eden movies look good~
(BTW does anyone know if Nanoha’s movie has been released yet? I see posters for it all over the place so I assume it might be…)

I highly recommend considering the anime “Hyakko” it’s plotless (so far…) and hilariously funny. And it’s totally not filler-ish! It’s a nice humorous side-dish to all the hyper-intense epic anime’s! And there’s hardly any order, so u wouldn’t have to worry about missing a blog!
Just a thought!
