Summer Anime (2009)

summer09preview

Whoa! Preview already? It’s a little early this season for Simplicity (I would usually do it on June 1st), but Spring really flew by for me. I guess it can blamed on how busy we get at the end of the school year. Though a lot of it can be blamed on how easily I got behind this Spring with anime.

But I’m excited. I can always get much more into Summer anime, even the crappy stuff, because of that general awesome feeling that goes with summer. Plus this season is going to have a lot of girls. That always gets me excited. Especially when I’ve had no girls at all recently. I’m lonely. Overall it seems like summer is a season that suits me. And I know Fall will after too. I’m on a roll! :o

First the anime I’m watching that are continuing into the next season:

  • Shugo Chara!! Doki (Probably for the final time…wow)
  • Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~
  • Pandora Hearts
  • Fullmetal Alchemist
  • Tears to Tiara

Now the preview will go like it usually does, I’m only providing information and thoughts on the anime that caught my interest somehow. These are just the anime that caught my interest in the preview, I’ve been known to check other stuff out when I feel like it.

Now a few notes on some format changes: Images are the same size to make it neater. Videos are accessible right in the post. Studios were added in. I also added ?’s next to anything that seems iffy.

But it’s pretty much the same as always. Enjoy, but don’t expect this to be your number one resource. It’s all about me here.

summer09-square-soranomanimani

Series: Sora no Manimani
Adaptation: Manga by Mami Kashiwabara
Studio: Studio Comet
Airdate: 07/07
Episodes: Unknown
Website: http://www.mmv.co.jp/special/soramani/
(ANN) (Wikipedia) (MAL)

Seiyuu: Kanae Ito (Mihoshi), Tomoaki Maeno (Saku)
Ami Koshizumi, Haruka Tomatsu, Reiko Takagi

Videos: show

Saku moves back to his hometown to attend high school as a freshman. On his first day he is reunited with his childhood friend, Mihoshi, although a traumatic incident long ago had left their friendship in an awkward state. However, Mihoshi seems ignorant of this “awkwardness” and immediately kidnaps brings Saku into the astronomy club she founded. Then slice of life, fun romantic comedy ensues~

This is guaranteed to be my favorite of the season. I’ve been reading the manga and I absolutely adore it. The characters interactions and any small hint for shipping gets me super excited, but it’s just generally fun. I call dibs on blogging it. I’m absolutely blogging it! No one else (or not many others) is allowed to blog it because it is mine!!! Mi-chan~ Saku-chan~ I got my shipping and favorite girl for the season set.

I haven’t been this excited about a new series since Nogizaka Haruka. Which means a year ago. I won’t be getting Haruka-level romance in this, but I’ll be getting about the same amounts happiness from fluff and just plain fun~

Watching? OMGYES! Weren’t you paying attention!?
Blogging? YES~!!!! I’m going to blog it so much! Everyone else keep your hands off!!! *super protective*

summer09-square-tokyomagnitude80

Series: Tokyo Magnitude 8.0
Adaptation: Original Production
Studio: Bones
Airdate: 07/09
Episodes: Unknown
Website: http://tokyo-m8.com/
(ANN) (Wikipedia) (MAL)

Seiyuu: Satomi Himamura (Mirai), Yuko Kaida (Mari), Yumiko Kobayashi (Yuuki)

Videos: show

The premise is based off of the idea that a 7.0 earthquake will occur in Tokyo in the next 30 years, but in the anime it shows what would happen if it was an 8.0 earthquake (ooo~ kicking it up a notch). The story centers on Mirai, a junior high girl, who is visiting Tokyo for an exhibition with her brother, Yutaka. With the help of a woman named Mari, they’re trying to get back home.

This isn’t usually the type of series I go for…I think. I can’t really say for sure since I don’t ever remember encoutering a series quite like this. But since it’s likely to be a good anime (rather than a fluffy, cute girls, fun anime) it’s not the sort of thing I usually go on about. But it looks so good and interesting.

Basically, this will be one of my, “It’s good. So I’ll watch it, but I’ll never talk about it so you’ll forget I’m watching it.” I am a shallow fangirl who can only talk about fangirl things~

summer09-square-taishoyakyuumusume

Series: Taishou Yakyuu Musume
Adaptation: Light Novels by Atsushi Kagurasaka
Studio: JC Staff
Airdate: 07/02
Episodes: 12
Website: http://www.tbs.co.jp/anime/taisho/
(ANN) (Wikipedia) (MAL)

Seiyuu: Kanae Ito, Mai Nakahara, Yui Makino, Eri Kitamura, Kana Ueda, Mamiko Noto

Videos: show

Girls from the Taisho era (1920’s) make an all-girl’s baseball team and play against boys. Either moe or girl power (or both!) ensues. It’s a baseball team so there’s going to be at least 9 girls in the cast. Someone for everyone to like~

My other Kanae Ito series for the summer…though I didn’t mention her at all in Sora no Manimani. There’s really so much about that series for me to love. Look! It’s even invading other spaces! But it’s best to force myself along. But there really is some great seiyuu in this. I get Yui Makino, Mai Nakahara, and Kanae Ito in one series! :o All I need is Sayuri Yahagi and I’d have the perfect collection of my favorite cute~ seiyuu. (I also have tears of joy over seiyuu like Kanae Ito and Yui Makino getting so many roles lately. so very happy~)

Girls, baseball, Taisho era (meaning hakama and sailor uniforms, right~?) all make this series something I need to check out. The only downside is that I can imagine it getting boring if it’s not executed properly. We’ll see how JC Staff handles it. I heard that there’s only 2 novels to work with, so I guess a lot of it depends on how long those novels are.

summer09-square-aoihana

Series: Aoi Hana
Adaptation: Manga by Takako Shimura
Studio: JC Staff
Airdate: 07/01
Episodes: Unknown
Website: http://www.aoihana.tv/
(ANN) (Wikipedia) (MAL)

Seiyuu: Ai Takabe (Fumi), Yuko Gibu (Akira)
Yui Horie

Videos: show

Manjourme Fumi, an introverted teenage girl, is beginning her first year of high school at Matsuoka Girls’ High School. She enters the school year with her heart broken by a previous relationship (with a girl, that seems important to mention). She quickly reconnects with her best friend from ten years ago, Akira Okudaira, who is now attending Fujigatani Girls’ Academy. As they reconnect, they both deal with their own respective romantic problems, and help each other get through them.

I read the manga for this up to a certain point and you know it’s actually good. Like on a legitimate level. It’s a yuri series that’s good and doesn’t just skirt around everything with subtext. There’s actual friendships, it’s not all sappy, people can be heterosexual, there’s guys! Seriously! Guys! I think that’s like nearly unheard of!

Really though, it’s a good series. I’m looking forward to watching it as something calm that I can just kind of watch without really thinking about. There’s as much friendship in it as romance, so it’s just totally suited to my interests. For some reason I like yuri, I still don’t know why. I guess because I’m a fan of cute girls around and a big harem is better with no loser guy to ruin. I watch the other yuri to kind of laugh at, but this one I’ll enjoy.

summer09-square-umimonogatari

Series: Umi Monogatari ~Anata ga Ite Kureta Koto~
Adaptation: Original Production (?)
Studio: ZEXCS
Airdate: 06/24
Episodes: 12
Website: http://www.sea-story.tv/
(ANN) (Wikipedia) (MAL)

Seiyuu: Kana Asumi (Marin), Minako Kotobuki (Kanon), Yui Horie (Urin)

Videos: show

Marin and Urin are two “pure” sisters who live alongside the fish in the sea, but yearn to be in the world beyond the water and above ground. One day, a beautiful ring falls in the middle of the sea, and Marin and Urin retrieve it. The two decide to leave their waterbound world for the first time to deliver the ring. After an arduous journey, they come across an isolated island where a high school girl named Kanon lives. The encounter between Marin and Kanon — the maiden of the sea and the maiden of the skies — awakens a hidden power as the world is threatened by an enveloping darkness.

Every season there’s one of these titles. We aren’t impressed by your naming skills guys. Cut it out. You’re Umi Monogatari alone, now deal with it!

Basically I saw “magical girl” at one point and I was like “watchlist” immediately. Because that’s what Fuyu likes. She especially likes the non-shoujo mahou shoujo as a break from the shoujo ones. You know I love my shoujo, but still breaks are needed! It sounds like it has an interesting story from the premise too. Adventure and fantasy~ These are things people should know I like by now.

The seiyuu also have me interested. It feels like every seiyuu I don’t recognize by name now is from K-On! or is one of the charas in Shugo Chara! Oh and there’s also Yui Horie so obviously yay for that~

summer09-square-bakemonogatari

Series: Bakemonogatari
Adaptation: Light Novels by Nisio Isin
Studio: SHAFT
Airdate: 07/03
Episodes: Unknown
Website: http://www.bakemonogatari.com/
(ANN) (Wikipedia) (MAL

Seiyuu: Hiroshi Kamiya (Koyomi)
Yui Horie, Miyuki Sawashiro, Chiwa Saito, Takahiro Sakurai

Videos: show

Araragi Koyomi is a third year high school student who is almost human again after briefly becoming a vampire. One day, a classmate named Senjogahara Hitagi, who infamously never talks to anyone, falls down the stairs into Koyomi’s arms. He discovers that Hitagi weighs next to nothing, in defiance of physics. After being threatened by her, Koyomi offers her help, and introduces her to Oshino Meme, a middle-aged homeless man who helped him stop being a vampire. And that’s the first story, apparently there’s more.

God knows I love my girls with staplers falling out of their skirts. Seriously though, it just took the images when I was looking up the anime to get my excitement really up there. I hope I won’t regret it like I have in the past. And after going to wikipedia I’m smart enough to see a flaw in the series for me. New heroines in each chapter? Does that mean the ones from past chapters don’t reappear? It better not because otherwise I can have no interest in this show. I can’t have a favorite unless she shows up!

Edit: With the new seiyuu and second PV my excitement for this series increased quite a bit. Let’s just see if it can hold my excitement.

summer09-square-canaan

Series: CANAAN
Adaptation: Visual Novel by Chunsoft
Studio: PA Works
Airdate: 07/04
Episodes: 13
Website: http://www.canaan.jp/
(ANN) (Wikipedia) (MAL)

Seiyuu: Maaya Sakamoto (Alphard), Miyuki Sawashiro (Canaan)
Haruka Tomatsu, Mamiko Noto, Rie Tanaka

Videos: show

A modern-day story about a detective, a young man, a virus researcher, a freelance writer, and a cat mascot character who are brought together by bizarre events with worldwide implications in the Tokyo neighborhood of Shibuya.

Hmm…well I really do hate comparing to past season’s anime, but I really did think “CHAOS;HEAD” when I saw the image and read the premise. I’m hoping this anime goes more where we expected CHAOS;HEAD to go…as in having a story. I only stayed in C;H for Rimi really. Which reminds me that I need to play the VN.

But um, it’s got a solid cast and stuff so no matter what I’m checking it out.

summer09-square-yokuwakarugendaimahou

Series: Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou
Adaptation: Light Novels by Hiroshi Sakurazaka
Studio: Nomad
Airdate: 07/11
Episodes: Unknown
Website: http://www.gendaimahou.com/
(ANN) (Wikipedia) (MAL)

Seiyuu: Ai Nonoka (Koyomi)
Haruka Tomatsu, Hitomi Nabatame

Videos: show

Morishia Koyomi is a clumsy high school student, often mistaken for a grade schooler because of her height (or lack there of). Koyomi becomes the apprentice of Anehara Misa, a 25-year-old graduate student who happens to be one of the most powerful modern-day magicians.

I have a soft spot for girls who look younger than they are. I already like Koyomi just from the images, way too cute. Well, at least she’s cuter in the original art, the anime art isn’t as cute. Kind of disappointed me. Oh and the other thing is that she’s voiced by Ai Nonoka. Nothing against her, but there are certain instances where her voice annoys me more than anyone else. It’s a shame because I first heard that it was a Clannad seiyuu, but not which one and my mind immediately went to Akemi Kanda (Ryou). I’d really like to see her in more roles. The only thing I get to see her in since Clannad is her being Lulu in SC! and I hate that.

Now the anime seems cute, but I can imagine it getting off-track and I’ll lose interest. So I’ll have to see how it goes. I tend to lose interest in modern magical series.

summer09-square-kanamemo

Series: Kanamemo
Adaptation: Manga by Shoko Iwami
Studio: Feel
Airdate: 07/05
Website: http://www.starchild.co.jp/special/kanamemo/
(ANN) (Wikipedia) (MAL)

Seiyuu: Aki Toyosaki (Kana)
Eri Kitamura, Rie Kugimiya, Yui Horie, Aya Endo

Videos: None Available

Kana Nakamichi is an orphaned middle-school girl who recently lost her only remaining relative, her grandmother. As a result, she ends up living and working at a newspaper delivery office. Everyone else living at the office are all charming, self-asserive bishoujo.

Another series, like Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou, where the original art was just so cute and sucked me in, but the anime art seems to disappoint me. It’s also 4-koma which can be as boring as it is fun and light-hearted. The summary for it makes it sound more interesting too. Like it’s trying to stress a point about being less moe, but I’ll believe it when I see it.

There’s also lots of stuff going around about this being yuri. I haven’t seen any proof of that and…well lots of you guys thought White Album was yuri. I’m not saying it isn’t, but I’m saying that if it’s all girls everyone is going to pair up all the girls. Because that’s the way fanboys work. And if that’s the way this works, consider me out. Seriously, I’m so sick of fanboys and their “everything is yuri” BS. I’d be more likely to watch if it was real yuri, but I doubt it.

Also, I now consider Aki Toyosaki to be indisputably the new seiyuu for super moe-ness. You have been overtaken Mamiko-san!

Information was found in the usual places. Mainly the Fansub Wiki, Anime News Network, Wikipedia, and MyAnimeList. Plus the official sites. Anything you see linked and then airdates from the Fansub Wiki.

Summaries were taken from various places linked to in the post, but edited by me where necessary to cut out the details and make them more fun. 8) If you have complaints, then clearly you are looking at the wrong girl’s preview. Do some of your own investigating, I collected all of the links for you! *selfish*

Question marks are next to or in the place of unknown information.

As usual, I will be adding a widget for Summer Anime that I will update when the post gets updated, because it’s far from done.

I’m also likely to do First Impressions posts for all of these anime. I should have enough free time this season, but I won’t make a straight out promise. Sometimes an anime is too bleh-depressing to blog

Whew! You are going to be really busy this summer! You’ve got a few on your list that I’d like to check out, too. Namely, Sora no Manimani and Taishou Yakyuu Musume (Kanae Ito!), plus Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 might be interesting (depends on how it’s pulled off, I think). And I might glance at Aoi Hana (your summary sounds interesting) and Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou because the artwork looks really pretty. Gee… I guess I’m going to be busy this summer, too.

  2. Sora Mani Mani is going to be the fangirl series of the summer. ^___^

Umi is being made by the same guy who created Princess Tutu and Pretear. That plus maho shojo=much watch.

Aoi Hana is a great slice of life series. It will be interesting to see how JC Staff pulls it off.

Fuyu seems to be get her summer of cute girls anyhow.

  3. Man looking @ this post makes me wonder if I should even bother doing a summer preview as nothing looks remotely interesting. I’ll probably just end up continuing to watch what’s airing now (hanasakeru seishounen, phantom and FMA)

  4. A girl-filled summer, eh? Hoho~, now I see what ALL the studios are in on. Satelight has a part in it, too. With that episode coming up Friday. See! See! World domination plan! And not by mecha this time but by GIRLS! *overdramatic* >:D

Hmm, I think my list is pretty much the same as yours (minus maybe one or two). Kyaa~! For me, this summer is all about Kanae Ito and Kanae Ito and…yes, Kanae Ito. Though I’m not shutting out all the other wonderful seiyuus for summer (*gasp!* NEVER! Especially not my SC! goddesses!), Kanae-san~~~!!!!!!! <3333333333333
Hehe, I hope TYM won’t disappoint with the acting. I’m basically just watching it for that. One hell of a casting and since it’s not a harem or anything too fanservicy (I don’t think), I can just focus on the girls. Hehe

Is there some unwritten rule now that any anime with an abnormally, ridiculous long title has to have a heroine with long, blond hair tied back by a ribbon? …Munto, this is all your fault! *points fingers*

    O.O @ the Bakemonogatari image (lots of “-monogatari”s this season, huh?). I didn’t see the full pic until today and damn, are the schools supplies falling out or falling up that skirt?! O.o;
Well, gotta say the trailer was interesting…even though it told me nothing else. :P And I can’t believe that there’s no listing of seiyuus for it yet. Then again, they still have a month but I was hoping they would have the main character’s up by now. :/

& HELL YEA for Aki Toyosaki being the most moe voice of the year! Now I wish she could just dethrone Yui Horie cuz I haven’t been liking many of her roles lately even though she does a splendid job at her acting. *frown*

Yep, summer~…if only I didn’t have work and school. I hate leaving my house. *sigh* :(

    May 27th, 2009

  5. Chibi: Well, not as busy as the post makes it seem. I think there are three in here that have a 90% chance of being dropped. And another that’s 60%. Though the rest I already love.

Oh no~ I always feel so worried when someone checks out an anime due to something I say. I feel the ned to mention all the faults in the series. Like, “Aoi Hana is kind of slow” and stuff.

warriorhope: It’s my fangirl series of the summer. *super possessive* But yeah, it certainly seems that way.

…How the heck did I forget that? I remember seeing that when checking it out and going, “OMG Yay~” since they’re two of my favorite mahou shoujo. Agh, I’m an idiot.

Oh yes, my summer of cute girls. Though now that I got over how happy that makes me, I’m noticing how few guys there are…

Hinano: Well, this season is certainly low on variety. And the only thing with romance in Sora no Manimani and from reading the manga, it’s pretty slow. There’s not much this season overall anyway. Only about 9 more that aren’t in this post.

Xiao Jie: I’m perfectly okay with this girl & moe-powered world domination.

Kanae Ito is <3 She’s gotten good practice from playing Amu (and another role I didn’t bother to look into because she wasn’t a main character). Amu has multiple sides so Kanae-san can be cool, adorably moe, tsundere, and…anything else she wants to be!
Oh god TYM will be impossible to disappoint me with acting. Kanae-san and Makino-san in the same scene alone will make my mind a pile of happy mush. Then again when I hear either of them with Mai Nakahara. OH GOD! What’s if there’s a scene with all three talking one after the other!? I’ll never wake up!

Hey…that’s true. It must be on purpose because ribbons are adorable and you can forget about the long title. Tricky~

…I hope they’re falling out of her skirt, otherwise her skirt is hiding a vacuum and somehow that freaks me out more!
And that’s Shaft for you. Interesting, but leaves you wondering what’s going on.
They probably have the seiyuu and are just being stingy about revealing them.

Aww, no dethroning Yui Horie. Even if she doesn’t get the best roles lately, she’s earned that spot from years of moe. She can just be retired from the competition and we’ll set up a new throne and she can keep hers. *thinking too much into it*

Yeah, I don’t care for leaving my house either. I can’t carry around blankets outside! …But I’ll leave it at that for fear of sounding too hikikomori-ish (anything can be an adjective if you add on “ish”) I’ll just leave a cool sunglasses emoticon here: 8) No one would suspect such a cool dude to be a hikikomori. (And I have no excuses for this rambling, it’s the middle of the afternoon, so I’m stopping now)

    Hm~

I’m keeping my eye on Sora no Manimani (Ha~ I think everyone is!), Taishou Yakyuu Musume, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0… and then Umineko no Naku Koro ni. Not in your post, but I’m planning on watching that one for sure. :’D

This really is the Summer for girl shows. Spring was all Shonen-ish (most of it), but this’ll be nice. It looks very refreshing. (Oh~! A good word for Summer. Refreshing~~)

Aki Toyasaki is definitely the new moe seiyuu. It’s official! First was Suu, then Yui, Koyoi, and now she has even more roles. Gah~ I really love her voice. :’3

These are some good picks though. I need more. ^^; I haven’t researched enough of them yet. But I’m getting there slowly~ >.<//

I am so going to watch Sora no Manimani! I wanted to read the manga, but I couldn’t find it anywhere… so, I’ll just watch it. It looks like something I would enjoy. All the other ones are kind of meh.

    May 28th, 2009

  15. Lol your excitement for Sora no Manimani since then had made me check out the manga and I LOVE IT~! It’ll for sure be a very fun series to watch ^^. And it definitely fits Summer for it’s freshness and light fluff~

I’m so happy that Kanae Ito gets more spotlight that she deserves! Gawd~ she’s so awesome and she’ll definitely prove more of her versatility on the new roles she’s getting ^^.

Summer screams Girl Power!!! I love how it looks better than this dry Spring season. Definitely looking forward on the next season ^^.

  16. I seriously cannot wait for the summer season. It has a lot more series for us girls to enjoy! xD Plus, summer always seems like an enjoyable season because we get to also relax from school and spend more freetime watching anime…at least that’s how it is with me. >.< But it seems like there are less shows premiering than usual.

Sora no ManiMani…kya~ It seems like it will have everything that fits my taste. Romance, comedy…and the part about stars and astronomy seems fun and interesting. ^_^ And hurrah for Kanae Ito being in more series, she is deserving enough to get more roles.

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 seems interesting. I wonder how it will be executed…It looks like the shounen-like series of the season for me. It has an interesting plot so I’ll also check it out.

Taishou Yakyuu Musume…yay! It has many seiyuus that I adore. Yui Makino is one of my favorites, so I’m really happy that she’ll be doing a series this season. And I’m glad to know that this is the second anime that Kanae Ito is in. Gah, I just love sailor uniforms. But I agree with what you said, it might be boring if poorly executed.

I’m not much of a yuri fan, but if Aoi Hana has the deep friendship-like theme that I like, then I’ll probably check it out. Maybe…I hope it ends up being a yuri that doesn’t focus on the yuri. And seeing that there are boys in it makes me think that it won’t be bad to check it out.

Agh, why does there always have to be a series with extremely long titles? …>_> But when I saw the picture I thought the show was ecchi. xD So glad that it isn’t, but the magical girl genre and plot has grabbed my interest now…

Bakemonogatari looks pretty interesting. I didn’t notice that school supplies were under her skirt until later. And now I’m curious and interested (maybe even a little creeped out)!! The plot looks interesting, and it’s a series I am second most likely to follow (first is, of course, Sora no Manimani). School supplies falling from a skirt ftw! O_o

Nuuu~ Sorry for double commenting but I forgot what I first wanted to add (going back up and down scrolling made me forget to add it): Like what everyone else said…for Taishou Yukyuu Musume, if only Aki Toyasaki and Sayuri Yahagi were in it, then the group of the my favorite adorable-voiced seiyuus would be complete.

And overall, I’m probably going to be checking out quite a few series, much more than I expected. xD

  19. I’m seriously looking forward to Taishou Yakyuu Musume. It looks like an anime version of A league of their Own. And with more moe~
I’ll definatly be checking that out.

Umi Monogatari ~Anata ga Ite Kureta Koto~ and Sora no Manimani look pretty good too, so I’ll check those out too.

  20. hikaristar007: Ah. of course. But it’s just the one episode so I’d feel odd adding it in now.

Misha: Ah! Someone finally mentioned the image! Isn’t it adorable? I was looking for a beach image and this was the only one with cute girls that wasn’t incredibly fanservice-y. I love it.

Phossil: Some, but they feel a little too similar.

shs: It’s going to have been running for two years so it’s going to feel so odd when Shugo Chara is gone.

Rin: School already ended for me about a week before this posted this and if I follow my current plan, I won’t have school until Winter. 8D

Shirachi: 3 and only because of the people working on them. Well, they’re pretty safe bets I’d say because of them. But yeah…anime seasons have been getting slow. i’m just lucky that some fit my likes so perfectly.

Author: If course nothing is interesting. It’s all just intolerably cute (but tolerable for me).

Lea: I’m not watching Umineko no Naku Koro ni until I watch Higurashi. I know it’s just a spin-off, but I want to be careful.

God Spring really was Shounen-ish. I love this so much more. Even though there’s still not really any shoujo.

Amutofan123: Here’s a handy little link for the manga then.

kanzeon: Isn’t it so worth my excitement and worthy of my fangirl love? Ah I’m so looking forward to it. “Fun” fits it perfectly.

I’m so happy to see Kanae-san getting roles since there’s been mahou shoujo leads before that never really got much else, but Kanae-san is just so talented that would be such a shame.

Yes! Girl Power!!! Even the shows for guys are flooded with girls~

blossomgirl101: Actually I’ll be working this summer so I may not have as much time, but I’ll certainly enjoy anime more just because of the feeling summer gives off.

It is official! Sora no Manimani has been abducted by the girls even though it’s technically a seinen series. The romance, comedy, and Kanae Ito make it our property.

*squee* I always love hearing someone say that Yui Makino is a favorite. She needs so much more love than she gets. I just hope that JC Staff makes TYM worthy of Kanae-san and Makino-san.

Aoi Hana does have more of a focus on friendship than yuri-ness in what I’ve seen. At least between the main two girls. It’s really great that it’s actually pretty realistic.

 I thought the same thing at first too. Or I thought it would at least be more like Uta-kata or Nanoha and be more geared towards guys but that doesn’t seem to totally be the case.

I know! XD I want to check out the series just to know what the heck is going on with that girl’s skirt!

Oh god, Sayuri Yahagi would make it perfect for me. I’m not including Aki Toyosaki just because she’s already in so much and I don’t want to get burned out on her so soon.

Kalley: Oh I had my eye on Umineko no Koro ni, but I’m staying away from it because I just really want to check out Higurashi first. I couldn’t participate in the discussions for it otherwise because everyone would assume everyone else had seen Higurashi.

13Cici: Heh. That’s what I thought about TYM at first too (well after “ZOMG! Kanae-san!!”), though I haven’t see A League of their Own yet.

Not enough bishonen for my tastes and nothing looks too original; hope I’m wrong.
