Yay~ Weekly Anime is back! No it’s not. I came to the very obvious conclusion that Weekly Anime is just too much trouble for something that’s just not worth it. It was meant to be done every week so I could just do blurbs on other anime I was watching, but eh. I ended up forcing myself to talk about anime I didn’t really want to. And that’s lame!

However if I went that route with just anime again I’d never have enough to talk about.

So I just decided to make a random collection of whatever pops out of my stupid head. Ahahahaha~

I’m not going to say that anything is guaranteed to be in here because that totally ruins the point. Except maybe my “Random Thoughts” section will usually be included, since I can’t see a time when something random won’t pop into my head. However, if there’s a week that I don’t have any random thoughts, then there’s none of that!

The only thing regular about this series is that you can probably expect it to always show up on Monday. Unless I just don’t get around to it…then it doesn’t show up at all!

I’m not dating it or numbering it either because that’s too boring and structured. Instead I’ll just title each week whatever I feel like titling it.

Basically, I’m just trying to make something easy so that I’ll have at least two posts every week (and then three every other week). Hopefully I don’t kill it by trying too hard to look for images. I do that too much.

Anime

Agh. I always get so behind at the end of a season. *pouty time*

I did get caught up with ToraDora! though and since I can’t do a full post on ToraDora, I’ll just say whatever basic stuff I have to say here.

I wasn’t watching it for the romance, but no matter what pairing ended up winning in the end (with the title “ToraDora” it was obviously heading for a Ryuuji x Taiga end) I thought I’d have a nice mix of feeling satisfied and meh on it. I wasn’t against any pairing by episode 20 and I liked all the girls pretty equally. People were going to hurt, but that’s realistic. My only complaint is that it’s kind of vague about when Taiga realizes she likes Ryuuji…it sort of just happens since we don’t get to see her POV, but whatever.

At the end Minori was probably my favorite character, going off of what seems realistic to me (meaning from my own experiences, which character seems real) and then which character I’d most like to hang out with. I think Minori would be a great friend, the way she put Taiga before herself there’s really no denying that. But they all did that as well actually. Ami was trying to help Taiga and Taiga was trying to help Minori. They’re all great girls. It’s really hard to pick a favorite, but I still think my favorite is Minori for some reason. Then Ami might be second because she didn’t get enough screentime. Taiga’s at the end, but of course I still really love her, but seeing her be such a poser even after she got over her tsuntsun frustrated me to no end. It all worked out though.

Of course, even though I know how the girls rank for me personally doesn’t mean I don’t love them all. They’re all really quite close in rank…like a millimeter apart. Ah~ ToraDora had a wonderful cast of girls and characters in general. I think I liked most of the supporting cast more than Taiga and Ryuuji, because in a series like this where at the end everyone is supporting Ryuuji and Taiga, those characters are actually seen in the best light. After all in this anime it really is about friendship most of all (though they added in some nice family stuff at the end). Yeah, I liked all of the characters though. Some of them weren’t incredibly original, but I liked them all. Except for the girl with Fuuko voice. She was annoying.

And that’s it. ToraDora is over and with a nice happy ending (though I personally think the in-between was stronger than either the end or beginning). Now everyone is going to take out their frustrations of having a good show ending on Spring and midway through Spring I guarantee I won’t be the only one with a pessimistic attitude about it. I’ll be okay about ToraDora ending though, it was a good show, but it never really struck me in my obsessive fangirling way. I’ll be going through drama about Clannad ending though (NO!!!)

Oh yeah. I also finished the fansubbed episodes of Munto (AKA Sora wo that name is too long~). All I can say on that is, “Where is ma movie!?” It’s a good series, but after hearing about the movie I really think it is better suited to be a movie, especially after that finale.

Also, by the end of the series I totally jumped on the Yumemi x Munto thing. When she’s older she can go live up in the sky and we’ll have a happy ending. That can be one of the extra scenes in the movie, ‘kay?

Manga

Well, I finally started reading the Full Metal Alchemist manga at the end of last month I think, but no Weekly Extra means no place to mention that. So I’m mentioning it now.

To put it simply, it’s a hell of a lot different from the anime. It’s weird. I didn’t necessarily think the anime’s changes were all bad, but they were certainly different. I see why the whole thing is being restarted this Spring. As much as I like the series, I’m not sure I’ll follow the new anime. It’s just one more thing to keep track of and that’s not good for me. Especially if it’s something that won’t really be “new” to me. It’s good to have something you know is good kept in the reserves when everything else fails too.

Haven’t read much else though. I’m going through the remaining scanlations of Special A as they come out. Not really looking forward to the end since the series kind of stopped being good a while ago. At this point I’m glad to see it go. (BUT WTF!? Minami-sensei! You couldn’t have added one more chapter for 100 instead of 99!? Come on!! After all those standalone chapters at the beginning!)

It’s clear though that I’m not going to have a lot to say in the manga section that often. Especially if I intend to keep it relatively spoiler-free I can’t include anything from Tsubasa Chronicle or xxxHolic. So…whatever…I guess. Keep it small here.

Oh but more as a note to myself, I want to get back to reading the Gakuen Alice manga. I lost interest way back when the scanlations were incredibly behind and fans had to rely on scattered translations. That was like…maybe three years ago though? Hopefully there’s been progress since.

Looking Ahead

This will be a section only included occasionally when I have something to say about something coming out in the future. Usually anime, sometimes manga…maybe.

Right now I’m particularly interested in Summer. Almost as much as I’m looking forward to Fall. There’s one anime in particular that caught my attention after I saw the PV. Sora no Manimani. Watch the PV…did anyone else recognize the voice shouting, “Everyone! Do you like stars?” as quickly as I did? Kanae Ito~ I’m happy to say she’ll be starring in two anime in Spring. Sora no Manimani and Taisho Yakyuu Musume which is about girls in the Taisho era making a baseball team to play against boys’ teams. Both are anime that got me really interested aside from just having a favorite seiyuu, so I’m incredibly happy. Another seiyuu I love getting starring roles and in anime I enjoy. Oh yes~

Sora no Manimani has to be the anime I’m most looking forward to seeing in Summer now. I already found a cute couple to support after watching the PV. The premise doesn’t sound that interesting (basic slice of life), but the PV really pulled me in. It had to be the combo of being being surprised by Kanae Ito shouting and some good sentimental music to set the mood (plus loli Kanae Ito voice later on). Oh yeah. And there was wind too. (Wind affects me so~)

Yup. I’m certainly looking forward to two anime airing this Spring. Right now more than all the stuff in Spring combined. ^_^;

Blog-Related

Changed my poll today because…it’s time. I should start letting go of Clannad. Instead since Spring is over and two very popular series have ended I did a poll on what people would miss more. (Though Clannad’s still in the poll… )

Oh yeah and speaking of Clannad, I should have my post on the compilation episode up tomorrow. It’s pretty much done now, but I don’t know~ If I can spread my posts across more time to make it seem like I’m posting more often, I’ll do it.

This week I was also late with my Shugo Chara post (meaning it didn’t come out on Friday night or Saturday, but *gasp* SUNDAY!). I didn’t bother to explain why even though I usually do since my opening pretty much explained it all. I was feeling cranky. There you have it. I think the best thing to do as a fan is not make any judgments on an anime you like when you’re feeling cranky. Everything is sure to bother you more.

Also, Sakura Hime Kaden chapter 4 post is pretty much pointless right now so I’ll wait for chapter 5 to get back on that.

And on another manga, I’m planning on doing Skip Beat! manga posts for each chapter. Since it’s new I should have stuff to say. The manga also recently hit a place where I think this will be easier so I’m going for it. So because of that the Skip Beat category got moved under manga.

I did my final update to my Spring Preview, adding all the trailers I could find. At this point it’s unlikely any new info will be coming out and since it’s really coming up soon (Corda already aired and the others aren’t too far away now) I took down the link in the sidebar. Which reminds me that I should probably be getting my promotion widget in there. *lazy and forgetful*

To make it very clear, even if I’ve posted…almost every day since the declaration, Simplicity is still officially in blog slowdown mode. Whenever I announce a hiatus or something I usually go through and finish everything I want posted before I get too busy. So keep that in mind.

Random Thoughts

Shugo Chara! – Actually, this occurred to me after episode 75, but I’ll say it now since I didn’t have Weekly Extra until this week, who cares? Seeing Utau back in action as Lunatic Charm (being so awesome and sizzling hot~) along with the fact that Ikuto and Utau haven’t seen each other in a while got me thinking. I want to see a Tsukiyomi team-up! That would be…so awesome. So incredibly awesome! Too bad I don’t think it’ll happen. At least not without derailing the current flow of events.

Clannad & Megami – Agh! I need the new issue of Megami! There’s two posters of Nagisa with her now famous (to me) grown-up mommy ponytail. Both with Ushio! One with Kyou and Fuuko. Then one with Sanae! Want it!!! Then there’s this just lovely one too! *throws an eternal fit* Ah…thank goodness for parents who find me a responsible and will lend me money. But lol…in the family poster Nagisa looks like Ushio’s older sister instead of her mother and Sanae certainly doesn’t look like a grandmother. All three of them actually look like sisters. (The family poster is the one I need btw. I need it even more than I needed that awwsome poster of Amu and Utau).

Shugo Chara Character Song Collection - I was going to try to manage a post on it, but now I’m not sure what I’d say. I love the Nana-sama songs we’ve gotten before. Having the full Heartful Song is great and it’s probably my Utau song. I really love Kanae-san’s two new songs and I think they fit her much better than Saikyou Love Power and Nijiiro Chara Change. Listening to her when she uses her softer voice makes me smile so I really like Happy Xmas, but since I tend to listen to bouncy songs more Kimi no Birthday is getting the most playtime in Winamp. I’ve really only listened to the chara song once…

On Kanae Ito – Just quickly since I’ve mentioned her a few times now it occurred to me to look on wikipedia again and she still has no page! Look! I mean WTF. She’s going to be starring in three anime at once in Summer. Someone needs to fix this immediately!

And so ends the first Weekly Extra. Ugh…I can foresee myself running out of images quickly if I don’t start remembering to keep myself stocked. I’m already using them completely at random too. ^_^;

With Clannad ending, my supply of Nagisa images is likely to start disappearing. Must find a new girl to obsessively adore in Spring…Not expecting Nagisa-level, but just someone cute I’ll always want to use images of. Though I doubt I’ll find any girls.

Ah. This is why I don’t find myself interested in Spring. No cute girls that grab my attention right away.
