You know, I did like this episode, but I think I’m still grumpy from last week since the stupidity with handling the story seems to have returned.

But I am happy for one thing…Kairi~! My third favorite Shugo Chara boy and my second choice for Amu (Nagihiko used to be second choice for Amu, but now he’s the property of Rima-tan).

It’s just too bad that Kairi’s return leads to one of my complaints with the episode.

As for other news in Shugo Chara land…I was able to order my adorable chibi Amu, Ikuto, and Utau figures.  I’ve been waiting for them since…well I can’t find it right now. I think it was a post in my livejournal when I went on all crazily about them. And since my one-year blog anniversary is coming up (less than a month away now) it’s been…well, like a year. (If my memory is correct)

Anyway…awesome. Just wanted to mention it because I’m sure to do a merchandise post on it. I’m really excited because I’m able to get them even though I have no money because it’s going to be my graduation present. Yay~ I love my parents.

Summary

Amu and Tadase are chosen to go to a summit for Elementary schools to represent Seiyo Gakuen by Niakiadou. Amu has some delusional fangirl fantasies after she finds out it will be overnight and agrees to go enthusiastically (she was hesitant before). It turns out Kairi is at the summit and also on the committee for the summit. He tries to hide from Amu and Tadase because of his promise to come back when he was worthy of Amu, but the charas find him. After some initial awkwardness, they start getting along like normal whent he charas go about their antics. During an activity, kids aren’t paying attention to Kairi so Amu and Tadase help by having their charas fly around in plans (wtf…).

However that leaves Kairi feeling discouraged because he needed their help and he’s not turning out to be a better man yet. After hearing two girls talk about how “they” (referring to Amu and Tadase) make a good couple, Kairi decides to go back up to his room without telling them, but Tadase sees him. Kairi tells him he doesn’t want to see Amu anymore because he’s not “worthy” yet (or whatever), but Amu overhears him and tells him that she doesn’t want to wait for him and asks him why he isn’t fine as he is now. Kairi doesn’t go with Amu and Tadase the next day and instead trains by himself, but Amu’s words from the previous night keep going through his head until he realizes that she’s right.

At this point someone comes to Kairi to tell him a kid got lost in the forest and the representatives from Seiyo Gakuen already went looking for him so Kairi takes off immediately. They need to hurry because there’s a storm coming. Amu trips after she finds the kid, but gets saved by Tadase.

Then the storm comes and some logs start falling, but they’re rescued by Kairi. Then only Tadase and Kairi chara-nari after more trouble arises and they save the day. After, Kairi apologizes to Amu and says that he’ll see her whenever he wants to. Amu gets very embarassed. Kairi tells Tadase that just because he’s not far away from Amu doesn’t mean he should let his guard down. The episode ends with Amu asking what Kairi just told Tadase and Kairi refusing.

Thoughts

So the episode was fun, but not fun enough to stop me from feeling grumpy about passing the 70 episode mark.

But still…we have Kairi~ My only real complaint is that not enough interaction between Kairi and Amu. Booo…

Yes, they’ll be discussing lots of complicated stuff at a summit meant for elementary students Amu.

Oh she’s just so cute sometimes. Like any normal girl she doesn’t want to deal with boring complicated stuff. She’s the joker after all, she doesn’t even do important “complicated” stuff in the Guardians.

Which makes me think…what the heck Nikaidou? Why choose Amu? It seems like Nagihiko would have been the better choice. Though if it had to be one girl and one boy…then yeah Amu and Tadase. Amu may not be suited for stuff like this, but she’s more suited than either Yaya or Rima.

Yaya would behave like Yaya…and Rima…would behave like a queen would and make Tadase do everythong. lol (Oh but hey! How awesome would it have been if it could Rima and Nagihiko? Yeah…that would have been an awesome filler. Pointless, but awesome.)

If any of Amu’s fans saw this, their image of Amu would be shattered. Heck, even mine has a little bit of a crack in it.

lol Amu. Wtf.

Her daydreams are so corny and lame that if I had to watch them again I’d just…well *facepalm* would become necessary I think.

I mean, the scarf thing was kind of cute, but coupled with Amu going, “Oh Tadase-kun, you’re so smart~” it’s just so…well yeah, *facepalm*

Lots or props to Reiko Takagi for really shoving it out. I may not care for Tadase’s voice, but you will never hear me say a bad thing about Reiko Takagi. I think Tadase’s voice fits him well anyway. We’ve just already established that Tadase’ character archetype is not one I ever really care for (never liked the voice of any other feminine looking princely character either).

And so hear I have to bring up my little complaint. I know that Amu and Tadase are both lame when it comes to making moves and all we get is *blushy*blushy*blush* *SPARKLES~* so they have to do daydreams and fantasies to make up for it.

…But come on! Shouldn’t Amu be growing out of this? She’s been growing out of it in the manga (a little bit, she has her setbacks), but in the anime it’s like she’s gotten worse.

Shouldn’t she know Tadase as a person and not be imagining him saying weird things that he…doesn’t say.

…Okay, so I’ll give her a little room for fantasies because she’s at that age and fiction can be more fun than fantasy sometimes. It just bothered me because Amu’s crazy fantasies gave me an, “OMG Sailor Moon…” feeling. Which of course was promptly followed by, “NOOO! I absolutely don’t want Amu to be like Usagi!” or any other of those lame heroines. The ones who fixate on romance in these ridiculous ways with ridiculous fantasies.

Amu is a different breed of mahou shoujo, right? Right!?

But yeah…I suppose we can give her some room because she’s younger than those other girls were. But still, I like to think of Amu as more mature.

lol. Because they make friends everywhere. Especially Amu. With every random person she meets on the street and coincidentally ends up having their egg x-ed or ?-ed later. The very same day or next day in fact.

So wait…AMU! Whatever you do, don’t make friends! You’ll be dooming them to having their dreams get all messed up.

I love Amu thinking about Kairi. She gets different reactions from lots of the boys. After Kairi confesses to Amu she gets shy around him because she’s embarrassed and self-conscious about being liked and that’s just darn cute.

Oh yeah…without a doubt KairixAmu is my secondary Amu pairing. Amu and Nagihiko always behaved too much like friends because of the Nadeshiko factor, so I think even if I didn’t designate Nagihiko as Rima-tan property, I’d still like Kairi and Amu better.

Seriously…so very cute~! It’s just too bad that Kairi doesn’t stand a chance. But Amu still blushes around Kairi more than Nagihiko these days.

When is Amu going to stop getting the cutest and coolest outfits I’ve ever seen in anime?

…This outfit is so cute on Amu. It almost calls for more *tackleglomp* and *hugglecuddle*ing, but I will restrain myself.

How very awkward. I started thinking about ways to make it more awkward while watching and went, “Ahahaha…what about if Ikuto was there?”

I quickly remembered past events and realized that Ikuto would…well we know the sort of scene he would cause. Causing Tadase to be all tsuntsun angry, Amu to be all flustered and tsuntsun, and Kairi to be sitting there going, “okay…wtf?”

Just like in episode 33…oh…fond memories of when it wasn’t Ikuto’s arc and therefore he didn’t have to be ignored. (SERIOUSLY! WTF IS UP WITH THAT LOGIC!?)

…This was kind of cute, but I thought it was pretty random. Paper airplanes of all things…

Oh yeah, since it hasn’t been said yet…Nikaidou~! You’re so cool and funny and…not a very responsible teacher, but still very awesome. Thanks for being you. (And for appearing since you still don’t appear enough!!!)

Oh Amu. I thought that having been confessed to would make you a little more aware of things involving Kairi. No task is too big for Kairi, at least not to make him upset. The only person that can shake his megane-chara is you, Amu-chan. Silly girl.

Oh okay…so they’re kids. Anyone sitting together makes a good match…or actually not. I think it’s weird for kids in general to say anyone makes a good match. Normally Shugo Chara (manga and anime) is good at making kids act like kids, but Satelight dropped the ball on this one. Kairi was already jealous, you didn’t have to add onto it in such a lame way.

King Tadase! It’s been a while! Especially been a while since we’ve seen you for something other than BL fodder. I missed your ebil world-dominating Royal ways.

And you shouldn’t encourage Kairi about Amu, Tadase. LOVE IS A BATTLE! And if you help the enemy in that area, you’re going to lose.

Kairi’s got it right. You can be friendly with your rival, and be upfront about your challenges, but you don’t help them.

Oh snap. Kairi’s in trouble now. If there’s one thing Amu doesn’t like, it’s the boys in her life making things worse for themselves, supposedly for her benefit. Especially when it’s done without her knowledge.

Damn straight Amu-chan! You know I have to give props to the anime for covering something the manga hasn’t. Kairi declared he’d become a better man and would come back to see Amu after that.

But what if Amu wants to see Kairi before that, huh? If you came to visit your sister, you’d just ignore Amu, Kairi? Yeah. What about that? Huh?

…Oh. Well, Amu was on a roll, and I still agree with her here, but I couldn’t help but think if Amu is following her own advice.

She’s certainly gotten better at being herself. Not using her charas for things and trying to do stuff on her own, but…well it’s not like she’s really clearly said, “I’m alright with being who I am.” It seems that she’s still lost sometimes (thinking about the manga here) about who she wants to be. The things she wants to do and all of that.

Right now the only thing Amu really knows about herself is that she wants to help her friends and stuff, and she even lost that briefly at one point.

So um…I guess the point here would be, “Follow your own advice please.”

I don’t know about that Kairi. I think girls like seeing the “pathetic” side to a guy. It’s the weak and “uncool” side of Ikuto that really got Amu thinking about him more (after their visit to the Amusement Park).

I can’t speak for all girls, but I really think most of us like the weak side to a guy. All that’s important is that the guy doesn’t necessarily want us to see that side. Oh like he wants to be strong for you and stuff…ah~ So cute~ *is now off in fairytale dreamland*

Um…but yeah. The point here is the same thing as Amu was saying. You’re fine as you are, Kairi.

Oh yeah…Su had that doggy friend in episode 10, didn’t she? But still…why can charas talk to animals? I mean, Yoru I understand, but…

It’s not fair. Kairi only gets one episode to be back. Tadase’s around all the time.

*sigh* Well, I suppose this is the downside to the harem being cut down to a love triangle. Only the two guys really get time with the girl. Not fair though. Because unlike Kukai and Nagihiko, with Kairi you can’t really see him being interested in any girl but Amu right now (because he’s declared that he likes Amu).

Oh Kairi! You’re so cool! Saving the day! If only you saved only Amu instead of Amu and Tadase. Tch. Turning an episode about Kairi into an episode about friendship. It especially felt like it was mostly about Tadase and Kairi’s friendship. Come on! Where’s the development with Amu!?

Yeah…another thing about the fillers. Sometimes it’s been feeling like Amu is just on the sidelines watching other characters develop and I do not like that. Not one bit. No wonder people are calling her a Mary-Sue (though I still disagree).

I’m sorry, but this felt amusing to me. Who did the unlock part? It was Tadase, right? It was totally Tadase…

Can Platinum Royale please go away? It’s just so unbelievably frilly that it ruins the atmosphere sometimes. This is supposed to be MAN’S WORK! A guy moment with two rivals working together! But when Tadase’s in that chara-nari…

Oh Tadase…you poor, poor shota. Forever stuck with mainly your shota appeal.

It may have been wrong, but it was still a pretty cool thing to say. You’re forgiven as long as you know it was wrong. (now come back to Fuyu-neechan for another hug…ahahaha~)

*sigh* Amu really is so cute. I love how easily embarrassed she is. Just like a girl her age would be.

Yeah…a pretty good episode we have here. But even so…I would like to move on, please? Because the more fillers we have, the more we tend to drift away from the characters real personalities. At least let’s focus on Lulu for a bit and get her story out of the way.

Preview

Oh well there we go. We’ll get some Lulu development because her incredibly ugly grandma is coming for a visit (why can’t old people in anime not look ugly and mannish?).

Yup, Lulu development seems obviously at hand since we get to see her as a child. Backstory! Awesome. About time.

Now then, is Lulu going to return to her basic filler villain status and personality after this episode? Like they’ve done before when they started to give Lulu development.

Or perhaps this means we move onto an Ikuto episode? That’s what happened last time after a Lulu episode. Christmas at Lulu’s then next episode BAM a shooting star named Ikuto falls into Amu’s bed. The episode title for 73 on wikipedia (I’m assuming originally from someone on Guardian’s Wish as I’m usually told) sounds promising with “reconciliation” being in it, but…a basic translated from NewType sounds much less promising.

But…for once I’ll be optimistic about Ikuto coming back (maybe at the end of that episode). That way if he doesn’t, fangirl HELL can be rained down on Satelight. Muahahahaha!
