This one pretty much matches up with my expectations perfectly. I was expecting a few things and each one of those came to pass. So all in all I’m very satisfied with my first watch of the Summer 2010 season. A good thing considering this is the only new anime I was really expecting anything out of.
I said on Twitter that this most recent episode of Angel Beats! was my favorite so far. True, but mainly in regards to the end. The humor was quite hit and miss for me, mainly on miss due to its repetitive nature and me not being a huge Yui fan. Up until we hit that certain point where the end is more than enough to make up for everything.
By this point, we’ve had the usual flood of “important/touching episode” blog posts and I’ve been stalling quite a bit with this post, so if you don’t know what happened yet I’ll be surprised. None the less. Spoilers will ensue. (All post images are clickable for source.)
When I go for the straight-forward title you can tell it’s not going to be one of my better posts. But as a fan of Key adaptations (I can’t say “Key” full and clear since I’m not much a VN gamer), I really feel a pull to absolutely comment on the current anime original project no matter what. Not least of all because it’s one of my favorites of the season and is sure to be a favorite for the whole year.
Spoilers are going to ensue for all of the released episodes. Because you totally can’t talk about any Key anime that’s made decent plot progression without spoilers. 
The Simplicity preview for all animated adventures from Japan that debut sometime in June through August. Or at least the ones I have some interest in. I do at least list all the TV series I know of, but the OVA’s and movies still get screwed.
So how do I feel about this upcoming season? Meh. It’s a solstice season as opposed to an equinox, so it’s only expected. I only have four anime I’m doing a full preview on and I’m a little less than enthusiastic about those too. Luckily there’s a little bit more in OVA’s and movies for me. Just a little bit though, especially considering how short they’ll be. 
Haven’t really finished the anime I wanted to by the time I wrote a post, but I want to keep some sort of momentum going. Otherwise we end up with my triumphant return post and then nothing for another three months. This would, of course, be hilarious, but not really what I want.
Basically this should be a familiar mish-mash post on anime and anything else I happen to be thinking or planning (hey look new theme and banner!). Plus all those “but”s I didn’t want to include in my return post need to go somewhere after all. Oh, also addressing that, yeah, stuff happened while I was gone.
I guess at some point a girl has to stop pretending she’s all cynical and a pessimist (oh excuse me “realist”) when it’s just not in her nature. She may have these small parts of my brain that lean toward these stupid traits (even though they are quite small, they get loud when fandoms get frustrating). For I can deny it no longer! Once I love something with enough passion, I’m totally going to love it for life.
So it was just a matter of time before I was pulled back into Simplicity. Even if it is kicking and screaming! In a fangirl fit. As it should be.
